Two people who died in a garage fire at a Queens home are being investigated as homicides, police say

JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — The deaths of a man and woman found after a fire in a detached garage in Queens are being ruled a homicide, police said.

Crews responded to the scene on 91st Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fire in a detached garage at a home in Jamaica, Queens.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found a man and a woman, both of whom were unresponsive. Emergency doctors declared the victims dead.

More than 60 firefighters responded to the scene, according to the FDNY.

Police said two of the victims were victims of arson.

The investigation is ongoing.
