Sergeant Greg Pinkins said when deputies arrived at the complex, they found McKenzie with multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency doctors pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators said neighbors reported hearing gunshots and a speeding car but did not witness the shooting.

Deputies reported that a man with a gunshot wound was being treated at a nearby emergency hospital.

The sheriff’s office said he was taken into custody pending the arrival of investigators, but authorities have not released any information about the suspect at this time.

Homicide detectives said they are looking into the video and whether McKenzie knew his killers.
