Firefighters respond to a fire in Dunbar

DUNBAR, V. Va. (WSAZ) – Fire crews and other first responders are on the scene of a fire on Greenbrier Lane in Dunbar.

According to rescuers, the house was heavily damaged by fire.

The Dunbar Fire Chief called it a “total loss.”

Fire crews from Dunbar and South Charleston are on the scene.

At the time of the fire, there were animals inside, and the owners of the house were not there.

A pet rabbit died in the fire.

The cat and two dogs managed to get out of the house safely.

The fire chief told WSAZ that firefighters were temporarily trapped during the fight but eventually got out safely.

Firefighters do not know what caused the fire.
