3 vehicle pursuits, 4 arrests in Fond du Lac County Saturday night into Sunday

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – Three unrelated vehicle pursuits continued Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office MPs are busy on the night of November 2-3.

The first occurred at 9:44 p.m. on Nov. 2 when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on County G near County SS in the Town of Auburn for speeding. The vehicle failed to respond to the deputy’s lights and sirens, increasing speed and turning off the headlights in an attempt to flee from the deputy.

The pursuit continued southbound until the vehicle approached the intersection of Youth Camp Road and County S and lost control and crashed into a cemetery near the intersection.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Waukesha, was taken into custody without incident, as was one passenger.

The Kewaskum Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene and EMS personnel medically examined both suspects and released them to deputies.

As a result of the accident, the suspect’s car was heavily damaged, and several tombstones in the cemetery were also damaged. No official or other equipment was damaged during the chase.

The chase lasted approximately 4.5 miles. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted in the incident.

The second pursuit ended with the arrest of a 19-year-old boy

At 12:23 a.m. Nov. 3, a Fond du Lac County deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle for speeding on Route 23 near Precinct I. The deputy activated his lights and sirens, and that driver also increased speed and turned off the vehicle. headlights when trying to escape.

The pursuit continued for approximately 3 miles before the suspect turned onto a dead end road and attempted to hide behind a closed business. Deputies followed the vehicle and arrested the driver, a 19-year-old Fond du Lac resident, without incident.

The suspect in the third pursuit fled on foot after powering off the car

At 2:03 a.m. on Nov. 3, a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle on Interstate 41 near Lost Arrow Road for no license plates. With the lights and sirens on, the car increased its speed.

After a 1-mile pursuit, the suspect exited the interstate onto US 151 and attempted to make a right turn, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a grassy lane of the divided highway. The driver got out of the car and fled on foot.

Unable to locate the driver at the time of the crash, the Fond du Lac Police Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted in locating the driver and identified the suspect as a 22-year-old Fond du Lac resident.

Deputies were able to take him into custody around 10 a.m. on November 3.
