A Pennsylvania father was arrested Friday and charged with shooting the mother of his young son and the boy’s grandmother. after breaking into the victim’s home in New Jersey, prosecutors said.

The Burlington County District Attorney’s Office said Junior Edwards, 37, committed a gruesome double murder early Wednesday morning while his 8-year-old son was at their Willingboro home. said

Edwards, of Lansdowne, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and related charges in the deaths of Catherine Nunes, 33, who had a son with the suspect, and her 54-year-old mother, Marisol Nunes. .

Both women suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene in an upstairs bedroom.

Edwards allegedly broke into the home by breaking a first-floor window around 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to prosecutors.

The child was at home during the shooting, but was not injured.

The alleged murder weapon, a gun, was found near the house, the prosecutor’s office said.

Authorities have not released a motive for the fatal attack, but the victim’s family reportedly claimed that Edwards was a “monster who threatened them numerous times.”

“The American dream has turned into an American nightmare,” Wilson Nunes, Marisol’s brother and Catherine’s uncle, told the Courier Post.

When Catherine traveled to New York once a week to work at a utility company, her mother, Marisol, watched the child overnight, the grieving husband said.

“This loss has devastated our family and is a reminder of how fragile life can be,” the family said on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for the funeral.

Edwards is also charged with home invasion with a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was charged while already in custody on unrelated charges in Philadelphia.
