A policeman was shot dead at the N2 Groutville exit

The circumstances of the event are unknown.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Samata Meyrik says medics who arrived to treat the injured police officer pronounced him dead at the scene.

“PSS EMS responded to the N2 Groutville exit following a shooting involving one of our local officers.

“Unfortunately, the participant was pronounced dead at the scene. This is still an active crime scene. The N2 southbound exit and Groutville Bridge are closed. We urge motorists to use alternative routes.”
