When the man went to collect the camera from his car parked at the Housing Board (HDB) multi-storey car park on October 29, he was shocked to find his car missing.

According to Shin Min Daily Newsthe husband even called his wife to check where he parked the car.

As soon as he realized that his car was indeed missing and probably stolen, he immediately called the police.

Absent

Shin Min reported that the incident happened at around 11.30pm on October 29 at the multi-storey car park at Block 457 Sengkang West Road.

The car’s owner, Juan, and his wife parked the car on the second floor of the car park around 7:30 p.m. when the couple returned home.

When he returned at around 11.30pm to collect his camera, he found another car in the spot where he had parked, leaving him confused.

Juan said Shin Min that he called his wife to find out where they parked the car.

Huang shared with Chinese media that they usually unlock their car doors with a key, which occasionally sets off the alarm.

So they sometimes leave the car unlocked with the key inside.

As soon as Juan reported the theft, several police officers arrived at the scene to investigate.

He sees the car returning

Shin Min reported that during police questioning, Huang recognized the sound of his car’s engine approaching.

He saw his car slowly approaching the second floor, and the driver hesitated when he saw the police.

Two policemen quickly intercepted the car and ordered the driver to stop and get out of the car.

Huang saw six teenagers, five boys and one girl, get out of the car and were forced to sit on the side.

Joyride

Huang found out that the teenagers live around Punggol and was confused as to why they would come to Sengkang to steal a car, Shin Min reported

Juan also discovered that the teenagers had taken their friends for a ride after allegedly stealing the car.

Huang’s wife also said the teenagers were “just mischievous, not malicious carjackers”: “The car didn’t have any scratch marks and we’re glad nothing serious happened while they were driving.”

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that they were called to a carjacking at Block 457 Sengkang West Road on 30 October at 12.05am.

Five teenagers aged 14 to 16 and a 13-year-old girl were arrested for car theft.

They were also found with brass knuckles and an electronic vaporizer.

One of the teenagers, 16 years old, will also help in the investigation of the facts of the possession of military weapons.

The crime involving the electronic vaporizer has been referred to the Department of Health and the investigation is ongoing.
