A police chase ends with a crash into the Elmhurst home; juvenile suspect in custody: officials

A police chase ended early Sunday morning when a car crashed into a house in Elmhurst and the juvenile suspect was taken into custody, authorities said.

The incident happened at 5 a.m. at the intersection of Vallett and Parkside avenues.

Berkeley police were chasing two cars believed to be involved in the theft of a vape shop when one drove off the road and crashed into a home.

One juvenile suspect ran from the wrecked vehicle but was apprehended nearby, police said. At the time of the accident, no one was in the house, and there were no injuries.

Authorities said the car that crashed had been stolen from another suburb.

The second vehicle involved in the chase, a white Kia SUV, was last seen exiting Elmhurst heading east on St. Charles Road on I-290 toward Berkeley.

No other arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
