A young girl died after being shot at a house in Philadelphia: police

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A 5-year-old girl was shot dead in Philadelphia on Sunday.

It happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 3800 block of I Street in the Juniata Park neighborhood.

Law enforcement officials note that at the scene of the incident, law enforcement officers found a young girl with a gunshot wound to the face.

She was taken to St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to the police, the child’s family is being interviewed by homicide investigators. Sources told Action News that officers are investigating the incident as an “accidental shooting.”

According to the investigators, a gun was recovered at the scene.

The authorities did not release more information about the incident.
