JJ Redick acknowledges Jackson Hayes investigation after new video of 2021 incident

Saturday, TMZ released the security footage of the home about an incident involving Los Angeles Lakers great Jackson Hayes and his then-girlfriend that resulted in Hayes being arrested, tased and hospitalized. He was later sentenced to community service and probation related to the incident. When the new video was released, the NBA announced it would reopen its investigation into the incident.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke briefly about the incident, issuing a statement in which he acknowledged his knowledge of the NBA’s investigation.

“We obviously know that the investigation has been reopened and we will cooperate fully. But other than that, I’m not going to comment any further on that,” Reddick said. said Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

The incident was previously investigated by the league and no disciplinary action was taken. Hayes was playing for the New Orleans Pelicans at the time, but the incident happened in Los Angeles during the NBA offseason.

Hayes was charged with 12 misdemeanor counts, including battery, destruction of property, use of force, resisting a police officer, and use of force and violence against a Los Angeles police officer. according to TMZ—and pleaded no contest to unlawful imprisonment and resisting an officer 10 other charges were dropped. He was sentenced to three years probation, 450 hours of community service and weekly domestic violence classes according to ESPN.
