One dead and six taken to hospital following a car crash in Cornwall

A man died and six people were injured as a result of a road accident that happened late at night.

Emergency services were called to a collision involving two black Seat Ibizas at the junction between St Tudy and St Breward in Cornwall at around 11.15pm GMT on Friday.

A 19-year-old boy, who was in the front seat of one of the cars, died at the scene, six other people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Road Policing Team investigated the scene and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the collision or have dashcam footage to contact police.
