Saturday was marked fifth consistent week Rudolph portraying Harris during the cold opening of the show. For the occasion, she and husband Doug Emhoff (Andy Samberg) first tuned into a Trump rally where the Republican nominee (James Austin Johnson) was exhausted and just saying whatever came to mind.

“Where the hell am I? This place smells!” he grumbled on. “I don’t want to be here with you. come on I’m out of gas. Friends, I’m smoking here. You can see it, right? Cracks are visible. I’m exhausted. i babble i do crazy things with a microphone.”

Rudolph turned off the scene and then escorted Tim Walz’s sidekick one by one (Jim Gaffigan), President Joe Biden (Dana Carvey), and the second Mr. Then she sat down by herself.

“I just wish I could talk to someone who’s been in my shoes, you know? A black South Asian woman is running for president, preferably from the Bay Area,” she said, turning to the mirror—and to Harris herself.

Loud cheers and applause made Harris’s line hard to hear: “You and I both, sister!”

“I’m just here to remind you: You’ve got it. Because you can do what your opponent can’t. You can open the door,” Harris said while calling Trump hard Wednesday opens the garbage truck door for a photo.

Holding hands, the pair took turns reading part of a pledge to “end the drama” before standing to face the audience.

“Let me tell you something,” Rudolph said. “I will vote for us.”

When Harris asked if she happened to be registered in Pennsylvania, Rudolph said, “Unfortunately, no.”

“Well,” replied Harris, “it was worth a try.”

Harris covered a lot of ground on Saturday. She started in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she called Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson for saying his party is “likely” to debunk the CHIPS law and science if given the chance to do so after the election. Harris was similarly critical his recent recognition that the Affordable Care Act will also be on the chopping block.

Later, rallies were held in Atlanta (Georgia) and Charlotte (North Carolina). Harris was flying to Michigan ahead of a scheduled campaign day on Sunday when Air Force Two diverted to New York.
