An investigation by local disciplinary authorities found that Mao had violated party regulations by hosting banquets or arranging trips that could affect the honest performance of his official duties.

He was also found to have been untruthful in organizational investigations, engaged in misconduct to benefit others in personnel matters, breached the rules of personal conduct by engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, and engaged in corrupt practices by using his position for personal gain. benefits in the project of conclusion of contracts and allocation of funds, including illegal receipt of significant sums of money.

Local authorities said Mao’s actions constituted serious misconduct and were suspected of bribery, and assets obtained by his misconduct were confiscated.

The investigation began after Li Changliu, the father of former Mao subordinate Li Peixia, the former party chairman of Shanfang Village in Shangrao, posted a video online on July 25 claiming his daughter had an argument with her boss Mao.

According to the video, Li Peixia threatened to expose Mao’s corruption to the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection.

After the video was released, local disciplinary authorities announced that Mao was suspected of serious violations of party discipline and national law. Authorities said Mao voluntarily confessed and underwent a disciplinary review and investigation, which later found that Mao had used his authority to facilitate an inappropriate relationship with Li.

Public information revealed that Mao, who was born in March 1982, is a native of Shangrao, Jiangxi. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 2000 and began working in 2003. He previously worked in the Party Committee and Wannian County Government.
