NYSDEC Chairman Deletes Account Due to Death of Peanut the Squirrel

ALBAWABA – After social media backlash for euthanizing beloved social media personality, “Peanut Squirrel,” New York State Environmental Protection Law Department Chair Karen Pryzklek has reportedly deleted her X/Twitter account, according to social media users. .

It all comes after Peanut the squirrel and a raccoon named Fred were seized by New York authorities during a raid at their caretaker’s home in Pine City, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, owner Mark Longo said.

On Friday, the DEC and the Chemung County Department euthanized the animals, sparking outrage on several social media sites for “animal cruelty” and “inhumanity.”

Also, both the animals were euthanized to test for rabies after the squirrel bit a human, Mint reported.
