First, she noted her custom Missoni rugs, which make her grand staircase burst with color and texture.

“I just think it’s great because it draws all the colors of the house into it. And it’s a little modern but doesn’t clash with everything that’s going on in this house,” she said, referring to the blues, greens and reds incorporated into the zigzag pattern.

“I always say this house is a little bit like Marilyn Monroe, Frankenstein, and the Gilded Age of the old world,” Medley added, describing the eclectic aesthetic of her Massachusetts complex.

As the Bravolebrity descends the stairs, she is greeted by a sentimental painting by renowned artist Guy Stanley Filosh, purchased by her beloved late husband, Richard Medley.

“(Richard) used to go to these school auctions and he was the one who would always raise his hand and just buy things. It just drove me crazy!” – she remembered.

“And he bought this painting. It was donated to the Sacred Heart auction and he bought it … for about $10,000.”

Years later, Dorinda met Filoche and learned that Richard, who died in 2011, got the painting when it was valued at $10,000, but now it’s worth a whopping six figures.

“He says, ‘Do you know that thing is actually worth about $100,000?’ So I had to insure him immediately,” Dorinda continued. “So it’s funny … I always think about that story, and I always think about Richard when I come down (the stairs) in the morning.”

Another piece of art that brings back fond memories for Dorinda is a vibrant painting of Marmite that recalls her time in London.

“I call this little corner of Bluestone Manor my ‘London Life’ corner,” she said, referring to the painting of the British delicacy that hangs at the bottom of her stairs.

“I saw this work in a gallery in London 100 years ago. When (my daughter) Hannah was little, she loved Marmite. And Marmite is such a cultural thing in London. You almost have to grow up with Marmite to like it,” recalled Dorinda, who lived in the British capital for ten years.

The Bravolebrity admitted that she personally “never could get used” to the taste of the yeast spread, but still wanted to honor Hannah’s affection for it with a drawing.

“It seems like every kid in London – or in Britain – loves Marmite,” explained Dorinda. “Of course I had to buy this wonderful painting of Marmite. It’s such a great conversation piece.”
