A pursuit in Mogador Portage County ended in arrests

MOGADORE, Ohio (WJW) – A car chase that started at Mahoning County culminated in the arrest of two suspects in Mogadore on Wednesday.

According to Sheriff of Portage Countywho helped in the pursuit, the event unfolded when in Ohio State Highway Patrol began a pursuit on Interstate 76, which eventually entered Portage County.

The chase reached speeds of 100 mph through Suffield, Hartville, Brimfield Township and Mogadore, the sheriff said.

When stop sticks failed to stop the driver, officers had to use a PIT maneuver to end the chase.

Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody and transported to Akron City Hospital as a precaution before being booked into the county jail.

The identities of the suspects have not been established.

A search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, the sheriff said.
