A flagrant missed call gives Oregon a touchdown against Michigan football

Ann Arbor, Michigan — When you face a top-ranked team in a country, they don’t need any extra help. But that’s exactly what Oregon got with the help of an official during the game at Michigan on Saturday. The Wolverines had the ball to start the game, but went three-and-out.

Michigan lost Will Johnson and Jair Hill on that one, and the Ducks started to attack the Wolverines’ secondary on their first drive of the game. Oregon marched down the field and into the red zone. On third down, Ducks defenseman Dill Gabriel threw a back shoulder to Evan Stewart, who was well covered by Amir Hall. It turned out Stewart made a great catch from our vantage point in the press box.

But CBS showed a replay after the extra point attempt, and it was a clear Stewart fall. The referee looked straight at the play and called it a touchdown. Not only was it an announced touchdown on the field, but no one else was doing their job properly by not calling it off and stopping the play for further review.

Michigan later tied the game at 7 after Tyler Morris caught a contested touchdown — a legal one.
