A drunken driver narrowly missed Harris’ motorcade

There was a disaster barely avoidable on Monday night in Milwaukee:

A suspected drunken driver approached Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade on Interstate 94 in downtown Milwaukee Monday night.

According to James Burnett, a spokesman for Milwaukee, the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane between Marquette Interchange and 16th Street and Harris’ motorcade was heading toward the lake when the driver stopped at the end of the motorcade. County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was recorded by a camera of the Department of Transport.

Burnett said deputies were able to pull over the 55-year-old driver of the SUV near 16th Street. Deputies observed open intoxication and conducted field sobriety tests before arresting the man on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and reckless endangerment.

The Harris campaign reached out to the Secret Service for comment, and the Secret Service would only thank the Milwaukee Sheriff’s Office for catching the drunk driver.

But that doesn’t absolve the Secret Service, the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the Milwaukee Police Department from explaining how a drunk driver was allowed to get close to the vice president.

A similar incident occurred on Labor Day, when one of the vans in Governor Tim Walz’s motorcade was actually involved in an accident. Asked why the freeway wasn’t closed, the Secret Service said that the freeway is usually only closed to the president and other guardians.

But this is the fucking vice president of the United States! You cannot tell me that she does not require such protection. There needs to be an independent investigation into how this happened and how they will prevent it from happening again, including cleaning the service of agents who may have been inappropriate.
