Watch Video: Drunk man in UP calls police over 250 grams of potatoes missing, sparking online debate

A drunken man in Uttar Pradesh took his frustration to the extreme when he called the police to report the theft of 250 grams of potatoes from his home. The incident, which was reported by the police, caused a wave of amusement and disbelief on social networks.

Vijay Verma, a resident of Mannapurva, called the UP-112 emergency number and reported that his ready-made potatoes kept for cooking were missing. He demanded an official investigation into the matter.

When the police arrived, Verma insisted they investigate the missing potato, reports said Times of India. Officers recorded a short video where Verma stressed: “This is something that needs to be investigated.” When asked if he had consumed alcohol, Verma admitted to having a drink after a long day, adding: “Yes, I drink a little in the evening, but it’s about the lost potatoes, not the alcohol.”

A video of Verma’s conversation with the police went viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions. Some users praised the police for their quick response, while others criticized the misuse of emergency services over a minor problem. Many have pointed out that such calls put unnecessary pressure on emergency resources, diverting attention from real cases.

In another unusual case, a drunken truck driver collided with a large python in the village of Singanapalle in Andhra Pradesh. After being heavily intoxicated, the driver fell asleep on the site near the road. A python from the nearby forest slithered and curled around his neck as he lay unaware of the danger. Fortunately, local residents noticed and intervened, freeing the man from the python’s clutches.
