Freedom of the press is under threat: journalists in Italy are intimidated by the mafia

Italy is the country with the highest number of journalists at risk of death, in Europe about twenty journalists live under 24-hour police protection. Since 1960, 30 Italian journalists have been killed while investigating the criminal activities of such well-known mafias as the Camorra, Cosa Nostra or ‘Ndrangheta.
