Nalgonda: The Telangana Tourism Department has launched the much-awaited scenic boat ride from Nagarjuna Sagar to Srisailam to coincide with the first day of Kartika Masam on Saturday. Nature lovers and tourists alike have been eagerly waiting for this journey that promises breathtaking views of the Krishna River.

Although planned for the past five years, the launch was delayed due to insufficient water levels in the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, heavy rainfall during this rainy season ensured sufficient water levels from Srisailam to Nagarjuna Sagar, allowing the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation to finally start the boat (boat) journey.

The 120-km journey takes about six hours, covering scenic spots like Nagarjuna Konda, Nandikonda, Saileshwaram and the lush forests of Nallamala. On the first day, tourists from Telangana and neighboring states thronged to experience this unique travel opportunity.

In addition to the boat trip from Nagarjuna Sagar, the tourism department has also launched a new tour package that includes boating services from Somashila in Nagar-Kurnool district to Srisailam. The air-conditioned boat, capable of accommodating 120 passengers, was inaugurated at Kolhapur Mandal’s Somashila shore.

The journey to Srisailam covers 120 kilometers and takes about seven hours. Ticket prices are 2000 rupiah for adults and 1600 rupiah for children, one way only. Passengers must make their own arrangements for accommodation and transport in Srisailam.

The boat services will continue as long as the water level in the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam remains at or above 575 feet and depending on the demand from travelers.

This new initiative by the Telangana Tourism Department is expected to boost tourism in the region by offering an incredible experience amidst the natural beauty of the Krishna River and the Nallamala forests.
