Uttar Pradesh: Woman dies after being hit and dragged 100 feet by car in Jhansi

A 54-year-old woman died after she was hit and dragged 100 feet by a speeding car in Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. The accident happened when a woman and a man were crossing the road to return home after visiting a relative in the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Guddo, a resident of Kotwali area. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The body of the deceased was sent for forensic examination.

The incident was caught on CCTV, showing the forceful impact which sent Guddo into the air before she landed on the bonnet of the car. Despite this, the driver continued on, dragging her nearly 100 feet before fleeing the scene.

According to the received information, the police arrived at the scene.

Talking to the media, police officer Ramveer Singh said that the vehicle has been traced and once a formal complaint is lodged, action will be taken.

“At around 9:15 pm in Nawabad area, a Wagon R hit a woman and fled. We have traced the vehicle and action will be taken once a formal complaint is lodged. The CCTV footage helped us trace the vehicle,” said Singh. .

Raju Rayakwar, the victim’s husband, described the accident, saying, “We went to Max Care Hospital to visit our relative. After seeing them, we left around 9:15 PM. As we were crossing the road, a speeding car took off and hit my wife, dragging her about 100 feet before she fell out of the car and the driver ran off.’

Further investigation into this matter is ongoing.
