Preparations for the caste census begin in Adilabad district

Adilabad: In response to the state government’s decision to launch a comprehensive survey to assess the socio-economic and caste profile of the Telangana population, the district authorities have started preparations for the caste census, which is scheduled to begin on November 6. Trained enumerators pasted stickers on identified houses and household surveys will be conducted in gram panchayats and municipalities in all districts. Enumerators will collect individual data on household members and the head of each household, while supervisors will randomly check 10 percent of the collected household data to ensure accuracy.

In addition, the enumerators will collect information on Gulf workers working in the Gulf countries. Each enumerator was assigned a maximum of 150 families per block. The data collection phase will run from November 6 to 18, with data entry scheduled from November 19 to 27. During the survey, officials will refer to the 2011 census data.

Adilabad district collector Rajarshi Shaw visited Thamsi-KK village in Bhimpur mandal and Riksha and Sriram colonies in Adilabad city on Friday. During the visit, the collector inquired about the process of identifying households and sticking stickers as identification marks. He stressed that the identification of households should be completed by November 3 and instructed officials to cover all households without excluding any.

Preparations for the caste census also began in Komaram Bhim district of Asifabad, where Collector Venkatesh Dotre personally supervised enumerators and supervisors. He visited Kerameri Gram Panchayat to check the preparations for identification of households for the survey. Komaram Bhim Asifabad district consists of 335 gram panchayats and two municipalities, and 1,400 enumerators have been deployed to collect the necessary information — 15 percent more than required.
