The updated Chinese J-15 fighter jet is seen in training footage of the aircraft carrier

A more powerful and advanced version of China’s ship-based jet fighter appears to be in service, appears in official footage aircraft carrier trainingaccording to a military analyst.
Without specifying when the training took place, the Naval Forces of the People’s Liberation Army stated that it was the first training of the country’s two aircraft carriers: Liaoning and Shandong – participated in joint exercises in the open sea.

Along with the escort fleet, the aircraft carriers escorted at least 32 J-15s, Chinese carrier-based fighters.

Andreas Rupprecht, a German analyst of China’s military aviation, said at least nine of the 12 airborne fighters in the images were J-15Bs.

“I have to admit, I’m still very excited to see the (J-15B) finally in service, and I can’t wait to see better images of it,” Rupprecht said.

“But there is one downside. It looks like the J-15Bs are still using the old AL-31F (engines),” he said, not the domestic WS-10 turbofans that were reportedly tested.
