Man accused of manually strangling wife in Sioux Falls murder

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – The name of the 44-year-old homicide victim in southwest Sioux Falls has been released.

Lt. Aaron Nyberg said officers found Angela Dawn Ledbetter of Sioux Falls dead when they arrived in the 5300 block of Anthony Avenue on Monday.

Officers were called about an “unknown problem” at around 6:25 p.m.

The Lincoln County Coroner ruled the victim’s death a homicide by manual strangulation.

With evidence such as surveillance video, detectives were able to arrest Angela’s husband, Jimmy Ledbetter Jr. He is charged with first degree murder.

Jimmy Ledbetter Jr. will appear in court on Friday.

Before his arrest, Ledbetter set up a GoFundMe page to bury his wife. Lt. Nyberg said the police will look into it.

“People should always be careful when they’re going to donate any money to someone online and maybe know as much as they can about the situation before sending money to someone,” Lt. Nyberg said.

Angela’s family created a separate GoFundMe page for donations

Cordell Wright will have more details on the case tonight on Dakota News Now.
