Man’s body found in golf cart near North Side Park, identified by ME’s office

Pete Jose Castillo, 39, died of gunshot wounds in the homicide

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a man whose body was found with gunshot wounds in a golf cart along a trail on the North Side.

Pete Jose Castillo, 39, was identified Friday morning by the medical examiner. His age is unknown; however, San Antonio police estimated Castillo to be between 20 and 30 years old.

On October 15, it became known that Castillo died of gunshot wounds resulting from murderreports the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Castillo’s body was was found with gunshot wounds around 3:45 p.m. on October 6 near Walker Ranch Park in the 12600 block of West Ave. The medical examiner’s office ruled his manner of death a homicide.

A preliminary SAPD report said a park police officer was patrolling the North Salado Creek Greenway system behind the park when he spotted the object in a wooded area.

An officer found a golf cart stuck in the bushes. The passenger seat held a human body covered with a carpet or tarp.

At last check, police have not released any information about the arrest.
