Dontrell Hunter has pleaded not guilty to the July attack on the inmates

RACINE — Dontrell Hunter, accused along with Lamarion Blair of beating two inmates at the Racine County Jail, pleaded not guilty Thursday at the Racine County Courthouse.

On July 16, Hunter was charged with two counts of battery by inmates and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Blair pleaded guilty to battery on Oct. 18, and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9. He was also indicted for his alleged involvement in the June 2022 shooting at Graceland Cemetery. A status hearing is scheduled for this case. February 21.

Hunter and Blair were accused of assaulting and beating two inmates on July 5. The alleged incident, which was reportedly captured on surveillance video, was not reported until July 11.

The criminal complaint states that the inmates who were allegedly attacked believed that Hunter and Blair were trying to extort money from one of them. The delay in reporting the alleged incident was allegedly due to inmate safety concerns.
