Donald Trump filed a pre-election lawsuit in the “MAGA Judge” district.

Donald Trump filed a pre-election lawsuit in the “MAGA Judge” district.

Donald Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS against a judge a top Democrat called MAGA supporters’ “favorite judge in the whole country.”

Texas federal judge Matthew Kasmaryk, appointed by Trump in 2017, will hear a complaint by the former president’s legal team, which alleges “partisan and illegal election activity and interference” by the broadcaster.

The case was filed in federal court in Amarillo, which covers the Northern District of Texas, where republicans have long been accused of “buying a seat” in front of Kasmaryk in order to obtain the best result. Senate Leader of the majority Chuck Schumer blasted Republicans for handing over cases to Kasmarik, saying he was “MAGA’s favorite judge.”

Republican presidential candidate Trump sued CBS News over his 60 minutes interview with his Democratic opponent, Vice Pres Kamala Harris October 7.

His attorneys said in a filing Thursday that the Bill Whitaker Show featuring Harris was edited to “try to tip the scales in favor of Democratic Party as the tumultuous 2024 presidential election led by President Trump draws to a close.”

Newsweek reached out to the Trump campaign, CBS and Kasmarik’s office Thursday for comment.

Trump is suing for “an amount to be determined during the trial of this case, but in excess of $75,000.00 and approximately $10,000,000,000.00,” the statement said.

The lawsuit alleges that “CBS engaged in partisan and illegal election activity and election interference through malicious, deceptive, and substantial distortions of news intended to confuse, mislead, and mislead the public.”

Venue shopping is a phenomenon where lawyers file a complaint with the judge they believe will most favor their case.

In 2023, Kachmarik suspended the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the abortion drug Mifepristone.

This was later overturned on appeal.

In May 2024, he blocked a Biden administration rule that required background checks on firearms purchased at gun shows. In response, Schumer blasted Republicans for referring their cases to Kaczmarik.

“Surprise, surprise: MAGA radicals stalled background check reforms by going to their favorite judge in the entire country, the Northern District of Texas, and getting him to approve a nationwide injunction,” he said in a statement.

“Today’s ludicrous injunction is yet another consequence of judge-hunting, that deeply unfair practice where radicals effectively guarantee favorable outcomes by going to court with a sympathetic judge of their choice.”
