Chicago police officer injured in hit-and-run on South Shore while directing traffic during Halloween

CHICAGO (WLS) — A hit-and-run driver hit a driver in the South Shore area Friday morning, Chicago police said.

The incident happened around 1:28 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Phillips Avenue.

Officers responded to help control traffic during a large Halloween gathering when police said a white sedan traveling eastbound struck an officer in the leg and fled the scene.

The policeman was given medical aid at the scene and released,” the police said.

According to the police, no one has been arrested. Detectives of the Second Region are conducting an investigation.
