Penn Yan, charged with assault, faces felony charges after fleeing the scene of a domestic incident

A Penn Yan man faces multiple charges, including first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated domestic battery, after he allegedly violated a protection order and assault on a person, according to Penn Yan police.

On October 25 at approximately 3:13 p.m., police arrested 36-year-old Jeffrey A. McClain after a report of a domestic dispute in the village. Police say McClain hit the victim in the face with a cell phone during the argument, despite having a protective order against him.

McClain left the scene before police arrived, but was later located, taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail. He now faces charges of first-degree contempt of court, aggravated domestic battery and second-degree harassment.
