New Braunfels Library Teens Form to attract Youth in Program Planning

New Braunfels – New Public Braunfels Public Library is working to change the idea that libraries are not the best interest for teenagers.

Through its new advisory council of teenagers, the library hopes to promote stronger connections with local teenagers, involving them directly in the formation of library proposals.

The council will consist of about 15 members, between the ages of 13 and 18, which will provide reviews about existing programs and will offer new activities for the library.

These include popular teenage-oriented initiatives, such as electronic types and anime clubs. Library officials believe that by attracting teenagers in decision -making, they can increase involvement.

“If they tell us what they want, they are likely to do the library,” said Cole Johnson, director of the new public library Brownfels.

Johnson noted that the library usually easily attracts younger children, but when they grow up and gain more independence, for example, when they begin to drive a car, they often lose interest.

The Advisory Board of Teens aims to overcome this gap.

Teens on the board will have a chance to form programs, create safe space after school and develop leadership skills by participating in civic activities.

“They will also find many friends,” Johnson said.

The library has received 30 applications in a two -week window and is currently reviewing candidates for a six -month obligation.

There is no time when the board members are announced, but the library will gladly start this new initiative.

Johnson emphasized the importance of staying with teenagers at every stage of their lives, ensuring that the library remains a valuable resource.
