The 53-year-old actor unexpectedly appeared on Halloween episode Todayshow on Thursday, October 31, where he reprized his role as Emmett Richmond from the beloved rom-com franchise, opposite Savannah Guthrie like Elle Woods.

Asked about the update on Legal blonde 3 and will he be in it, Wilson told Guthrie and Kotb, 60, “Well, I hope so. That would be really fun to do.”

“You never know. But I’m sure Reese and I can still do it at some point,” he continued, adding of their on-air sabbatical, “And it should really inspire Reese!”

Witherspoon confirmed that she is reprising her role as Elle in the third part of the beloved franchise back in June 2018. About a year later, she said Entertainment Tonight that she had seen a version of the script but hadn’t shot anything yet.

As for the third film, “I talked to Reese a couple of years ago and some of the other cast members,” Wilson Guthrie said on Today show earlier this year. “I think everyone would be willing to do it. But Reese is such a sharp person and I think she just wants to make sure the script is really good if it gets made.”
