Maryland man charged with an illegal flying drone over playing -off NFL

Baltimore, Missouri – Baltimore man faces federal charges of a crime after allegedly flewing a drone over the M&T Bank stadium while playing NFL wild maps on January 11, 2025, which prompted prosecutors to temporarily stop the game.

43 -year -old Alexis Suarez was charged with a federal criminal complaint for breach of temporary flight restrictions (TFR) established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The rule of restricted airspace prohibits unauthorized flights of drones within the radius of three podvitic miles from major sports competitions.

During the game, NFL Security suspended the game after discovering an unauthorized drone. The State Police of Maryland and FBI agents tracked the drones of the drone, and later located Suarez, who had already left the scene.

Suarez confessed that the DJI drone for recreation and work purchased, but the authorities said it was not registered, and he was not missing a remote pilot certificate. Prosecutors claim that he flew a drone 400 feet or higher, capturing seven photos of the stadium as thousands of fans were present.

US lawyer L. Barron emphasized the strict execution of flight restrictions, stating: “You will be charged and held accountable for any invasion of limited airspace, including around sports and entertainment sites such as superc.”

The authorities have warned that persons who operate drones may face arrest, charges, penalties or imprisonment.
