WS/FCS shares details about Powerschool data violation

North Carolina Student Information System Supplier, PowersCchool, declared school Winston Salm/Forsyth last month that they were aimed at an unauthorized party that accesses students and staff confidential information.

Since then, Powerschool has confirmed that about 28,000 current and former WS/FCS staff and 150,000 present and former students have affected this data violation.

Victims include those who worked or visited WS/FCS between 2014-2024. The school district says they need to turn to Powerschool to protect identity or loan monitoring options.

WS/FCS says social security numbers approximately 16,000 employees were stolen or broken. Students’ social insurance numbers were not taken because the state does not have this information.

Other personal data that was taken includes: names, home addresses, e -mail addresses and phone numbers.

Powerschool says it will give the victim:

  • Two years of free identity protection services
  • Two years of free loan monitoring services
