Fire department call home to Kansas

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement is investigating a homicide in Topeka.

Just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Topeka Fire Department crews responded to a medical call in the 500 block of NE Gordon Street in Topeka, according to police spokeswoman Rosie Nichols.

Medics found a man who later died. Due to the nature of the incident, firefighters asked police investigators to respond.

The incident is currently being investigated as an intentional homicide. Additional updates will be provided as the investigation permits. This is the 15th homicide investigation in 2024.
