A man accused of setting fire to a house in Miami has been arrested

CITY OF MIAMI, OH. According to court records, the man was arrested for allegedly setting numerous fires near a residence in the city of Miami.

Christopher Marshall, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated arson, according to court documents. Court documents say Marshall set fire to a home on East Miami River Road, along with two cars and a mobile home.

The fire broke out Wednesday morning on East Miami River Road near Cleves.

Miami Fire Chief Matt Schumann told WCPO crews at the scene that the fires started right across the street from the fire station. Fire crews were cleaning their equipment and noticed a fire burning across the street from them.

Shuman said two cars, the front of the house and the back of the house, were burning when firefighters responded.

Firefighters found two people who escaped the fire near the house; they were treated at the scene but did not need to be taken to the hospital, Shuman said.

Additional crews were called to assist with the fire, and the Hamilton County Fire Department was called in to investigate.

Shuman did not say Wednesday morning whether arson was suspected, but he said officials are treating the fire as suspicious because several different areas of the home were on fire.

Marshall is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
