A Halloween party in California ended with the murder of a 19-year-old woman, which shocked even experienced investigators.

The murder of Leilani Marie Beauchamp by a jealous brother-sister duo culminated in a chilling, spine-tingling declaration between the siblings: “We killed someone.”

It was October 30, 2021, when Beauchamp’s disappearance from a Halloween party in Sacramento set off a chain of events that revealed a horrific story of jealousy, betrayal and murder.

The young woman’s life was cut short in a manner as senseless as it was cruel, Beauchamp spending her last moments in the bed of Jessica Quintanilla’s ex-boyfriend, a fact that became key to solving the crime.

Leilani was said to be bright and in love, having just left a Halloween party, unaware that it would lead her to a fateful encounter with Jessica Quintanilla.

The victim accompanied the two active-duty Air Force pilots to their home in nearby Fairfield, not knowing she would never return.

In a fit of rage, 24-year-old Jessica Quintanilla confronted Beauchamp and her ex-boyfriend, seeking answers. But it was during the confrontation that they shot.

Quintanilla later claimed on the witness stand that the shooting was an accident, explaining how she was hungover and upset and that the gun went off during an argument.

But the prosecutor’s office painted a much darker picture, calling the act a deliberate murder motivated by jealousy.

After the fatal shooting, Quintanilla’s brother, Marco Quintanilla, 30, became an involuntary accomplice.

Two siblings and one of the airmen who lived in the home disposed of Leilani’s body in Salinas, more than 130 miles away.

At one point during their attempt to cover up the crime, Jessica reportedly turned to her brother and uttered the chilling words, “We killed somebody.”

Her words came back to haunt her as they echoed in the courtroom as Marco later testified in court that he initially thought his sister’s words were a creepy joke. They were anything.

The case quickly unraveled when authorities discovered a murder scene in Fairfield after Leilani was reported missing.

The pilot who helped dispose of the body led investigators to its location, later receiving immunity in exchange for his testimony.

His account contained horrific details, including horrific threats Jessica allegedly made to silence him. “She told me she would kill me if I said anything,” he testified.

“Leilani was a true blessing to us and her beloved friends. We will miss her smile, her laugh, her caring demeanor, her strong will, her zest for life and the love she brought to our family. We love you Leilani

Jessica Quintanilla’s attorney, William Alan Welch, called the shooting a tragic accident, saying it was the “quintessential heat of passion.” But the jury was not swayed by this.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Paul Sequeira suggested a complicated love triangle may have been the motive.

In November, Jessica was found guilty of murder and has now been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Meanwhile, Marco Quintanilla was sentenced to four years for complicity in the crime.

The victim’s family was left alone. In a heartfelt statement, they called Bosch a “blessing” whose light was extinguished far too soon.

“Leilani was a true blessing to us and her beloved friends,” the family said. “We will miss her smile, her laugh, her caring demeanor, her strong will, her zest for life and the love she brought to our family. We love you, Leilani.”
