The eighth-seeded Australian defeated 20-year-old Alex Michelsen 6-0, 7-6 (5), 6-3 in a thrilling three-set battle.

The win saw De Minaur reach the quarter-finals of all four Grand Slams and will next face PIF ATP No. 1 and reigning champion, Yannik Grishnyk.

The 25-year-old also became the 35th Australian to reach the last eight in Melbourne, joining the likes of Lleyton Hewitt and Nick Kyrgios.

Adding to the magic of the moment, he secured a seat in front of his beloved family and friends.

In the touching footage, which has gone viral on social media, De Minaur’s mum looks visibly emotional while Boulter can’t stop smiling.

Competing in the fourth round of Melbourne for the fourth consecutive year, De Minaur opened the battle against a struggling Michelsen and won the first eight games of the match with flair.

It wasn’t until the 41st minute that Michelsen managed to get on the scoreboard, showing incredible tenacity as he pushed De Minaur in the second set.

With a lively home crowd roaring at Rod Laver Arena, De Minaur came close to securing a two-set advantage, serving at 5-3, 30/0.

However, Michelsen turned up the intensity with some powerful forehands that allowed him to break away and send the match into a tiebreak.

With the set hanging in the balance, De Minaur rallied heroically from 4/5 to the tiebreak.

He hit a stunning forehand to tie the score, then hit a strong first serve to take the lead before capitalizing on a Michelsen forehand misstep to take the set.

If De Minaur is to secure a place in his first major semi-final, he must overcome the challenge he has yet to overcome: beating the Sinner.

The Italian leads the rivalry 9-0 in the Lexus ATP Head2Head series and has yet to drop a set in any of their nine matches.

De Minaur and Boulter have been together for almost five years, started dating in March 2020.

In July 2024, de Mino made an impressive run to the quarter-finals at the Wimbledonreceiving huge cheers from the British crowd, largely due to his association with Boulter.

This led him to humorously refer to himself as an “honorary Briton”.

“Oh, 100 percent. I’ll take all the support I can get,” he said at the time.

“I can be an honorary Brit here at Wimbledon. I must say that I am very loved there.

“I always enjoy coming here to Wimbledon and playing here. I always feel like I’m playing the best tennis.”

De Minaur will face Sinner on Wednesday, January 22, kick-off time to be determined.
