A York Region police officer has been charged with 26 charges following an internal investigation

The constable has been charged with 23 counts of unauthorized use of a computer, two counts of breach of trust by a public servant and obstruction of justice

A York Regional Police officer has been charged with multiple offenses following an investigation by the Bureau of Professional Standards.

Const. Guannan (Harry) Sun was arrested and charged with 23 counts of unauthorized use of a computer, two counts of breach of trust by a public official and obstruction of justice, according to a York Regional Police news release.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.

Sun was released from custody with certain conditions and his first court appearance is set for February 18, 2025 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket.

The officer, who started with York Regional Police in August 2022, has served in Markham’s 5th Precinct and most recently at the Community Resource Center at 10720 Yonge St. in Richmond Hill.
