A report on the unauthorized issuance of a passport has been sent to the DPP – PM

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirms that a report has been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions into the unauthorized issuance of passports to the children of individuals linked to allegations of human rights abuses at Grace Road.

Rabuka says the DPP will now determine the appropriate course of action.

When asked if this was the reason why the two briefcases were not returned to the Minister of the Interior, Pio Thikoduadua, the Prime Minister replied that he had not seen the results of the investigation.

Thikoduadua resigned as immigration minister last November to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter.

He had earlier said that these passports appear to have been issued without his knowledge, without the approval of the Permanent Secretary and the permission of the senior management of the Immigration Department.
