The search is on for the family of 6 people who died in Jefferson County in recent weeks

Authorities are searching for family members of six people who died in Jefferson County in the past month.

Their bodies are ready to be released for burial, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has been unable to locate and notify their next of kin.

Victor Lee, a 71-year-old black man, was found dead Dec. 30 in the 200 block of Third Avenue.

Lee was found dead in his apartment by a manager who was conducting a welfare check at the request of a concerned friend.

His cause of death has yet to be determined, but Deputy Chief Coroner Bill Yates said there was no evidence of trauma or foul play.

Lee listed addresses in Birmingham, Center Point and Montgomery, Alabama, as well as Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, California.

Beverly A. McBrayer

Beverly A. McBrayer, an 81-year-old white woman, died Dec. 10 at UAB St. Vincent’s in Birmingham.

McBrayer, who lived in Nauvoo, died of natural causes.

She listed a previous address in Carbon Hill, Jasper and Nauvoo.

Hugh Donnie Lawson Jr

Hugh Donnie Lawson Jr., a 54-year-old white man, died at UAB Hospital in Birmingham on December 27.

Lawson lived in Parrish and was a patient at UAB, where he died of natural causes.

He also listed previous addresses in Carbon Hill, Jasper, Nauvoo and Parrish.

Kimberly Dawn Caldwell

Kimberly Dawn Caldwell, a 48-year-old black woman, died Dec. 30 at UAB St. Vincent’s.

Caldwell, who lived in Birmingham, died of natural causes.

She listed addresses in Birmingham and Center Point.

Monty Gale Wilson,

Monty Gale Wilson, a 74-year-old white man, died Jan. 7 in the 1900 block of Mountain Drive in Tarrant.

His roommate found Wilson unresponsive at home.

Yates said the cause of death is pending further laboratory testing, but said there was no evidence of trauma or foul play.

In 1983 and 2002, Wilson listed Perry Oliver of Robinwood as an emergency contact, but all efforts to locate Oliver were unsuccessful.

Varney Robert Booth

Varney Robert Booth(introduced)

Varney Robert Booth, a 78-year-old white man, died Jan. 11 in the 2800 block of Highland Avenue South.

Booth was a tenant in Greenbrier at Altamont Nursing Home and under the care of Compassus Hospice. He died of natural causes.

Yates said Booth had ties to Mobile from at least 1979-1990.
