Keke Palmer talks about a Viral Usher concert moment

Keke Palmer tells her side of the story about the public outcry her family experienced after a viral interaction with USHER at one of his concerts last year.

In a recent interview with PEOPLEPalmer opened up about how a viral incident with Usher at his concert eventually led her to file for a restraining order against her ex, Darius Jackson, who is also the father of her child.

The controversy began when Jackson took to Twitter to express his disapproval of Palmer’s concert outfit, a see-through black dress draped over a thong-matched bodysuit. In her first remarks about the incident, Palmer downplayed her interaction with USHER and explained that it was all meant to be part of a “more fun” moment she was creating with him.

“I understand that people feel like all the celebrities know each other, or they think they do,” Keke Palmer said in part.

“I mean, at the end of the day, I was doing what I do as an artist, creating a fun moment. That’s what he (Usher) does with every artist that comes to his show. How it became an actual storyline of Usher and I being in love, or Usher and I having something going on, I don’t know how that got there, but usually, as we all know, things are never what they seem.’

However, Jackson caused a stir after publicly criticizing her revealing outfit, speaking out in a retweet he posted showing a video of Palmer serenading USHER during a residency in Las Vegas.

He tweeted: “This outfit.. you momma (sic).” When he came under fire for publicly shaming his partner’s look, Jackson simply doubled down.

“We live in a generation where a family member doesn’t want his wife and mother of his children showing off their booty to please others and being told what a hater he is,” he tweeted. “This is my family and my representation. I have standards and morals about what I believe. I finish my work.”

Palmer explained that while she viewed the situation differently than Jackson, believing it was just a concert, the incident escalated into public speculation about her relationship, which she said she was shocked to see. unfold, in addition to Jackson’s comments.

“I was just at a concert … it wasn’t right for me,” she said. “I was speechless… I was just shocked.”

Describing the public reaction and her ex’s comments on social media, Palmer added: “I was at a loss for words and it’s not reality… I didn’t want to deal with something that wasn’t reality.”

She expressed her frustration at the spread of misinformation, explaining that taking legal action was her way of getting her family back in order.

“The only way you know how to bring order or control is through the courts,” she said.

Palmer concluded by sharing that the lawsuit brought her a sense of clarity and peace, as she noted, “I feel very calm now… there is a peace.”

Keke Palmer and Jackson announced their relationship and the birth of a child last year, which initially caused joy among fans. However, Palmer continued to accuse her Jackson of domestic abuse, and in December 2023, she was granted sole custody of her nine-month-old son Leodis, who she then had with Darius. Palmer also obtained a temporary restraining order barring Jackson from coming within 100 yards of her and their son.
