General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco is set to return as Sam after the death scene

Kelly Monaco says goodbye to General Hospital and her character, Sam McCall, after more than 20 years on the soap opera, but her recent death scene won’t be the last time viewers see her on the beloved soap opera.

Shortly after the death of Monaco’s character, Sam McCall, on the Wednesday, Oct. 30 episode of the ABC series, People reported that the 48-year-old actress will make her last appearance in the next episode this week.

Us Weekly has reached out to the ABC for comment.

Tuesday’s episode showed Sam successfully coming out of surgery and getting engaged to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). However, she later failed and doctors were ultimately unable to resuscitate her.

Us Weekly confirmed this in August Monaco was about to withdraw General Hospital in the fall after playing the role of Sam McCall in more than 2,000 episodes since her debut in 2003.

Monaco initially remained tight-lipped about her departure, but appeared to have done so contact him for the first time in a since-deleted Instagram comment on Soap Hub’s September post, responding to a user who claimed she was “monotonous, had no main roles and (was) just plain boring,” and refused to take a pay cut, which Monaco had already disputed.

“No priority role…do your homework,” Monaco replied. “When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline ended. Stripping Sam of all the traits she had. Something I’ve been working on for decades… Slowly taking her apart, turning her into a character I didn’t recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will…revenge at its best. Monaco in October reflected her last moments on General Hospital set “The last scene with the Davis girls. ,” she captioned the photo on Instagram with her colleagues Kate Munsey, Nancy Lee Grahn and Kristen Vaganos. “It doesn’t make sense to me anyway.”

Prior to Kelly’s post, her mother, Carmina Monacorevealed that the Daytime Emmy nominee filmed her last scenes on September 27, just days before her 21st anniversary on the show.

Carmina admitted that the moment was “tough” for Kelly, but she said: “Knowing that she has such an incredible, loyal fan base has given her strength. You have supported her through all the twists and turns, celebrating her achievements and comforting her during difficult times.”

She concluded: “Your love and devotion means more than words can say, not only to Kelly, but to all of us who care so deeply about her. Thank you for being there, believing in her, and reminding her of the impact she made. We will always be grateful that you stuck with her through it all.”
