Katrina Baur has pleaded not guilty to the death and disappearance of Elijah Wueh

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) – Elijah Wueh’s mother has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the 3-year-old boy’s death.

Katrina Baur, 31, is charged with chronic child neglect resulting in death and child neglect under the age of 6, both felonies. She was also charged with two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer, a misdemeanor.

Baur declined to formally read the charges because they were the same in the criminal complaint.

Prosecutors have been given a December 20 deadline to offer Baur and her lawyer a plea deal.

The court granted Baur’s request to have contact with her daughter as long as it complies with the Wisconsin CHIPS (Child in Need of Protection or Services) statute.

On February 20, an amber warning was announced for Ilya. Investigators said the boy was in the care of Baur’s boyfriend, Jesse Wang in Two Rivers. Wang claimed that he had dozed off and Elijah was gone when he woke up. The body was found on September 7 in a wooded area a few miles from Wang’s apartment. Wang will appear in court next week on charges of repeated physical abuse of a child resulting in death, concealing a corpse and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Baur’s bond was increased to $400,000 cash on Oct. 18. She was previously held with $15,000 in cash before Illya’s body was found.

Baur’s next court hearing will not be until February 12, which will be a court appearance.
