According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, they now have a suspect in a homicide in the Moose Creek area near Big Sky.

The suspect is in custody on unrelated charges and reportedly led detectives to evidence that the sheriff’s office previously defined.

Dustin Kiersem, 35, was found dead in his tent with severe head and body injuries that were initially considered a bear attack. Later, the case was investigated as a murder.

He was found northeast of Big Sky on October 10, and an autopsy revealed that Kjersem had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The sheriff’s office says it will not comment on the investigation until charges are filed.
