The former CEO of the YMCA in Hermitage has pleaded guilty to stealing money from the organization.

Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker told 21 News that 42-year-old Robert States pleaded guilty to one count of theft. His sentence should be announced on February 27.

The charge related to a scheme in which the states spent nearly $100,000 in YMCA revenue on unauthorized transactions accrued through two separate YMCA business credit cards.

These credit cards were used to purchase items such as food, diapers, glasses, and other household items at Walmart, as well as various gift cards, car repairs, meals at local restaurants, and more.

In addition, the states charged large amounts of cash from the YMCA to two cards and deposited funds into the YMCA’s bank account when funds were depleted and salaries needed to be paid.

In addition to the YMCA, Staats also defrauded the Hermitage Little League Association by writing fraudulent checks to the association using YMCA funds in an attempt to recoup the stolen revenue.

In total, the States stole $500,000 from the YMCA and the Hermitage Little League Association.
