The 38-year-old WWE star admits he was jealous after Cody Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL

The 38-year-old WWE star admits he was jealous after Cody Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL

Cody Rhodes did the unthinkable when he ended history and defeated Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania XL. While millions around the world enjoyed his victory, the 38-year-old WWE star recently revealed that he was a little jealous.

The Visionary had a big hand in Rhodes ending his story on the Grandest Stage of All. Rollins teamed up with his former rival on the first night of the show to face Roman Reigns and Rock in a blockbuster team clash. Additionally, Rollins also performed the SHIELD theme song to distract Reigns and even the numbers game in the main event.

During a recent speech at INSIGHT with Chris Van Vleet, Seth Rollins addressed Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship win at WrestleMania XL and said he was a little “jealous.” The former Universal Champion added that both Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are “turning things around” in the company.

“I felt joy, probably a little jealousy, but I don’t know. I’ve never been the kind of guy who gets passed the ball like that. For the last 10 years, it’s mostly been Roman, and then Cody comes back and you know, he’s getting the same treatment as well,” Seth Rollins stated. (7:57ff)

He also added that he could have been the guy who was “handed” but WWE never worked with him like this. He stated that this was the reason for his “professional jealousy” towards both men.

“And I always felt like I wish I was that person, that I could be that person, but I never really was — I — it’s just not for me in the eyes of the people who made those decisions. so, as I said, there was this joy and this happiness that we crossed the proverbial finish line, and of course also a bit of professional jealousy,” he added (8:21ff).

Cody Rhodes sets up massive ladder match for Royal Rumble, while Seth Rollins’ future looks blurry

After months of feuding between the two men, Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens are set to face off in a Ladder Match at the Royal Rumble. The two previously competed in Saturday night’s Main Event, but the controversial finish made headlines around the world.

Cody Rhodes has a big task ahead of him as a ladder match is set for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Kevin Owens has been portrayed with a “fierce” character over the last few weeks and a World Cup victory looks very possible.

Meanwhile, Seth Rollins has a lot on his mind as he recently suffered a devastating loss to CM Punk. During the debut of RAW on Netflix, Punk and Rollins put their intense rivalry into action, but The Visionary couldn’t get the job done as Punk picked up the win. That leaves Rollins with a lot to think about and an uncertain future ahead of the Royal Rumble event.

Punk has made his intentions to challenge for the world titles clear, but it remains to be seen if Rollins can move on from the rivalry or if the two stars will go head-to-head again before WrestleMania season begins.
