18-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting Clearfield County teenager outside home

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WJAC) — Clearfield County authorities say a local man is behind bars accused of sexually assaulting a teenager outside a Clearfield Borough home earlier this week.

Corbin Derbeck, 18, of Lawrence Township, allegedly assaulted the 17-year-old victim after meeting her at a residence on West 6th Avenue, police said.

According to the affidavit, police say the victim explained that she and Derbek had been in contact for an unknown amount of time.

Police say on the day of the alleged attack, Derbeck reportedly threatened to harm himself, according to the victim, and allegedly asked to meet her for a “kiss and hug.”

Authorities say the victim consented to the meeting and stated that the first meeting with Derbek was consensual.

Police say Derbek continued to “kiss and touch” the victim before allegedly removing her clothes and having sex with her.

Investigators say, according to the victim, he then allegedly sexually assaulted her after “knocking her to the ground” outside the residence.

After further investigation, police say the text messages corroborated the victim’s statement that she and Derbek had been in contact for some time prior to the alleged attack.

Police say the victim also admitted she and Derbek had been sexually active before, but said all previous encounters were consensual.

After the alleged assault, police say the victim sent numerous messages to Derbeke asking why he allegedly assaulted her.

Investigators said the victim reportedly told several other juveniles about the alleged assault before reporting it to police.

Police say when Derbeck was interviewed, he allegedly claimed that the victim’s boyfriend had asked him to meet her.

Authorities say he also allegedly mentioned their previous sexual encounters and said they were consensual.

During the interview, police said Derbek was “acting nervous” and reportedly changed his story several times.

Police say he later admitted the victim repeatedly told him to stop during the alleged assault, but he continued to have sex with her.

According to court records onlineDerbek is facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and lewdness.

He is being held in the Clearfield County Jail on $100,000 bond.
