A 76-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Falkirk

A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Falkirk.

Officers were called to the incident, which happened in Nedermain Road, Denny, at around 3pm on Thursday.

A 76-year-old female pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment with serious injuries.

Police confirmed that the driver of the white Suzuki SX4 involved in the crash was uninjured.

A 38-year-old woman was detained in the case of violation of traffic rules.

The incident is still under investigation and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Constable Ian Marshall, of Stirling Roads Policing, said: “Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances leading up to this incident.

“I would appeal to any witnesses or anyone who has CCTV footage in the area to get in touch.

“Call, please 101quoting Reference 1873 dated January 9, 2025.”
