Woman pleads guilty in Darlington County overdose death

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – A Pee Dee woman will spend some time in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to an overdose death.

Crystal Blackburn pleaded guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter by overdose, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Blackburn the case dates back to her arrest in 2022. Deputies responded to a home on Lamar Highway where a man died of a fentanyl overdose.

Blackburn was charged in his death in August of that year after a month-long investigation.

As a result of the plea agreement, Blackburn was sentenced to five years for possession with intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl and five years for manslaughter. The sheriff’s office said the sentences will run concurrently.
